Programs o.o

Post by i0322 on Mon Mar 31, 2014 6:18 pm

Yeah, while I was looking at some work, I just wanna know what kind of programs does everyone work with? If I have to learn some new programs it will be nice to know what I have to work with etc.

I just got these programs:
CryEngine
ZBrush 4R6 by Pixologic
Sculptris by Pixologic
AutoCAD by Autodesk
Inventor Fusion 2012 by Autodesk.

If there is anymore programs I need to get or learn, just let me know Very Happy

heya,

i myself use:

Autodesk Mudbox - for sculpting the terrain and give it some nice detail
World Machine Prof. - for terrain middle-post-processing
Adobe Photoshop/After Effects/Flash/Dreamweaver - For graphic things & webcoding.
3ds Maya / MAX - for creating objects.

And last but not least, Unity for everything. Very Happy

If you ask me, Visual Studio is the absolute best coding tool, it's really quiet useful. Also, we have a section on this forum for applications for work, feel free to apply there.

As far as the programs I use, read my signature

Lastly, I don't know how proficient you are, but most people use whatever programs and tools feel natural and best to them. Most professional or well known programs implicitly have converters for moving to and from popular file formats. Unity supports so many file formats it's ridiculous. Use whatever programs you like, I'm sure there can be a way to convert whatever Smile

As joey says coders use the tools that they feel are the best to use it more of a personal preference. for example i use css dreamweaver for html coding where joey may use note pad or something i find inferior. as for what joey codes in i dont know all i know is that most of the games files are C# (didnt try to hide it in the videos XD) from what i gather tho is that joey codes with unity's editor however i could be horribly wrong ....

Notepad for coding? I don't think anybody could survive that lol :p
I use Microsoft visual studio express 2012

Also, most game scripts are not C#, but our project is. I've built the entire client and server framework using C# from the ground up.

Unity doesn't have a built in 'programming' tool like Kismet or some other node based tool like CE or UDK has. Everything in our project is real code, and has to be typed up
