C++ Coder Trainee

Post by BlasterKing99 on Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:30 am

Hey all you programmers out in the forums :3
I just wanted to say that i have picked up on C++ and have learned the basic definitions of the language (Like what's a function, library, statement, etc.)
I wanted to look to you programmers for some tips that might make my learning a bit easier.
I have not started coding any games yet, the only program I've coded so far was "Hello world" (Yes that is how far back I am haha ._.) but like i said I've only picked it up a few hours ago :3 so please leave some tips down below ^-^ Thank You all c:

Hello! I'd be glad to help you learn a little a bit, any concepts in particular you were looking to learn? And I'm a programmer for the game! Laughing

Well, a website to get you started if you don't want to spend money on a book is this: http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/

I'm self taught through many text books!

However, a few quick tips to keep in mind:

Know when to use local and global variables,

always write out your code in plain English first, but write it out in the syntax of the language like this:

Main
ask the user what 1 + 1 is
while the user is incorrect
keep asking what 1 + 1 is
congratulate the user

Which would then translate to

int main()
{
do
{
cout << "Whats 1 + 1: ";
cin >> prompt;
}while(prompt != 2)
cout << "Congratulations, you know math!";
}

It's very important to do this because then you can convey your ideas through a more understandable form, and this way you wont just be mindlessly typing everything that comes to mind.

If you want to know anything in particular then just ask.
