Cars

Post by Joeybbb on Tue Dec 16, 2014 4:45 pm

Ok so another hobby I'm slightly more obsessive than I should be is with cars. Figured I would start a thread so we can showcase and discuss our rides Smile

Ok so my Infiniti I35 is a pretty nice ride (and has some impressive specs for a 2003). Here are some pix:

Specs:
-3.5L 6 cylinder
-24 valve double overhead cam shafts; variable valve timing
-3500cc
-10.3:1 compression ratio
-255HP at 5800 RPM
-246T (ft lb) at 4400 RPM
-20-26 MPG but I'm pretty sure the way I drive it's closer to 18 haha
-0-60 mph in around 6 seconds but it was cold, I'm pretty sure I can push it a bit faster

Mods:
-Performance air filter
-Also replaced my coolant tank if that counts :p
-Hood strut dampers
-HUD, includes speedo, tacho, shift light, fuel consumption, overspeed warning, etc Smile

Exterior:
-Dipped rims, emblems, side stripe matte black
-Duraflex fiberglass Sniper spoiler
-Tinted windows
-Red brake calipers

If you can't tell, it may be a luxury class car, but I'm doing my best to turn it into a sport car haha.
So yeah, this car is my pride and joy!

Ok nice! Other than the lift have you done any mods to it? Post some pics if you want to later on!

Also, I updated my OP with new pics and some new info regarding a HUD I ordered Smile

i will probably upload picture tomorrow or when ever i go out to take them. The lift cost me 1400$ just a couple months ago so i haven't had the money to do anything else to it involving money yet. I plan to buy new 28-34in tires with new black rims, get dark tint, black taillight covers, ect. my truck is black so im gonna try and black it out. i have a custom hood scoop i bought and have not put on cause im not sure if it look okay or not lol. (its made for looks and just mounts to the hood rather then getting a new hood make with a scoop on it). i did do a few small things to the int. like adding LED setup in the dash and a triple cig lighter hub but nothing special tbh.

btw i like your spoiler, when people get the really high ones i think it looks just stupid but yours is about just right in my opinion.

" I plan to buy new 28-34in tires with new black rims, get dark tint, black taillight covers, ect" plastidip is definitely the way to go. 6 bucks a can, looks beautiful matte black, durable, all of the above and totally worth it. A buddy of mine dipped his taillights and it came out the same if not better than the vinyl kit. I wouldn't use this for window tint though haha. Also, what I normally do before buying mods is photoshop something similar on to see how it would look. That's what I would recommend doing with your hood scoop.

I agree, unless you have a super high performance car, a high spoiler just looks ridiculous without any real use. I kept mine matte black instead of painting it ivory to match the car so it fits the white on black 'theme'

OP update with a pic of the engine bay. I detailed it myself so it's not as clean as it could be, but I'm not done. Certainly better than how it was before (I forgot to take a before picture). I think it looks pretty up kept for a 12 year old car.

Oh man that's a beauty Smile really nice work man haha
done any work under the hood or just made her look nice?

Also OP Update, I was annoyed I couldn't get the stains out of the engine cover so I just painted over it with some leftover VHT caliper paint

Thanks :d
It's taken about 4 months to get here, haha.
So far... header, intake, exhaust, strut bar and coilovers.
Considering a stage 1 cam and staying NA, but at the same time I already have gauges, pod pillar, turbo manifold, intercooler and a serious thirst for pfftsshuttuututu

Unfortunately, the d17a2 reacts really shitty to mods, so even after all that, i've probably only gained 10whp loool

Also, I learned my lesson when it came down to not using the proper spray paint..
Painted my header red with gf using 500°f paint, ended up burning it off..

Gonna paint your wing?

Oh and, a list of stuff I've done:
New engine
New gaskets
Fog lights
New grill
Lip
DVD player
8th Gen Civic SI spoiler
Strut bar
Intake
Headers
Tow hook
Catback
Oil pan gasket
Bosch Evolution Wiperblades
Oil pressure, Boost & A/F Ratio gauges
Gauge pillar pod
4x Yokohama Avid Ascend tires
Front tow strap
Painted Valve Cover
Xenon Headlight Bulbs
Intercooler
Catback
Hood wrap

Jeez that's a lot of money 0.0 Especially a new engine install!
I didn't notice the coilovers, you didn't want to slam it?
With all the turbo supporting mods, that might be the smarter way to go.

TBH I had thought about painting the spoiler but I think it kind of fits with the color scheme of black on white.
Doesn't look too ricy does it? :p

Every considered wheel spacers to make 'em flush with the fenders?

Around 3k or so, lol.
Slammed cars look ricey and aren't very functional. I didn't want to scrape over everything :d
That's what I'm thinking as well, but I'd need to get K-Pro and that's gonna be REAL costly..

Ahh, I just noticed that..
You could darken your fog lights and head lights, they're a bit too shiny for your current theme.

The wing looks like it doesn't belong, but then again the vibe I get from your car is that it really wasn't meant to be modified.
You intend on getting another car, or keeping to this one?

Haha yes, wheel spacers are definitely on the to-do list.

Maybe not scraping the ground but at least a little tuck I think looks tasteful. To each his own I suppose haha

I've been thinking about tinting all the lights actually, we'll see...

All cars want to be modified Wink I just want something a bit unique

TBH I bought this car from my dad for 3100, there isn't much better I could've done with that money (Can't beat 260 HP from a NA). I recently dumped another k in the car to replace some motor mounts and ignition coils so it should last for a little while longer. It has 176xxx on the odometer but that's 176xxx miles with my dad behind the wheel so I know it's been treated right.

Even though the car is mine, the title is still in my dad's name actually. Before I talk to him about selling it, I want to save up some more just so I can get something nice.
